Gunmen shot and killed a father of four named Kamadioye Krama in Emulation community, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The details of how the shooting happened are not clear yet, but reports say it took place around 8pm on Friday.

Monday Krama, the deceased’s elder brother, spoke about the incident. He said Kamadioye was on his way to a planned coronation ceremony when the gunmen appeared and shot him.

The family is calling for justice for Kamadioye. They have urged the police to look into the killing and find the people responsible.

Krama shared his feelings with newsmen over the phone on Saturday. He said he was in Port Harcourt when he learned about his brother’s death. Now, he is back in the village.

He explained, “From what I heard, he went to the farm. When he returned in the evening, he went to have his haircut. After barbing his hair, he went to the town where youths in the community were arranging canopies ahead of the coronation of a stakeholder in the community, Mr ThankGod.

“Suddenly, the gunmen came out from nowhere and started shooting. They shot him dead. That is what happened.”

He also spoke against earlier claims that the gathering was political.

“It was not a political gathering. My brother was just there, standing and watching as the youths were arranging canopies for the coronation of Mr ThankGod on Saturday.

“All we are asking is justice. Let the police investigate the incident and ensure those behind my brother’s death are prosecuted.”

He added that Kamadioye was married and left behind four children.

As of the time this was reported, the Divisional Police Officer of the Abua/Odual Police Division and his team had visited the family.

The family also mentioned that they filed an official complaint at the Abua/Odual Police Division.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident. She said an investigation is ongoing to catch the culprits and hold them accountable.

Agabe, who is an Assistant Superintendent of Police, stated, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim and determine what led to the unfortunate incident.

“The command remains committed to uncovering the facts and ensuring that appropriate action is taken based on the outcome of the investigation.”
