Street-pop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, lost his boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha by disqualification on Friday. This happened after Portable walked out of the ring before the end of the first round at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The match, called “Unfinished Business,” was set up as a rematch of their first fight. Okocha claimed that the first match was unfairly given to Portable.
Before things got out of hand, Portable seemed to be doing well. But the fight quickly turned into a wrestling match. The referee had a hard time separating both fighters.
When the bell rang to end the round, security personnel and bodyguards had to step in to bring order back to the ring. In the midst of the chaos, Portable left the ring before the officials could continue the match, which led to boos from the crowd. Even fans in the VIP section who came to see the fight were disappointed.
Although they tried to convince him to come back, the officials disqualified Portable, giving Okocha the win.
Before the fight, Portable spoke backstage while holding his son. He said, “I am not happy, but I want God to make me happy and my family.”
This loss is a big change for Portable, who had won their first fight. Just before this rematch, he bragged during the weigh-in that he was still the better fighter.
