Portugal Beats Norway 2-1 Without Ronaldo

Portugal won 2-1 against Norway in the Nations League. Cristiano Ronaldo did not play as he stayed on the bench.

According to BBC Sport on Sunday, João Félix scored first for Portugal. This was his second goal in two games. Erling Haaland equalized for Norway early in the second half.

This goal was Haaland’s 65th for Norway. It was also his 22nd in the Nations League, making him the top scorer in the competition.

But Portugal quickly regained the lead after a mistake by Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland. Nyland passed the ball directly to Gonçalo Ramos. Ramos then chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

Ramos almost scored again but missed the target. Rafael Leão had a shot that deflected and hit the bar.

Later, Ramos seemed to score again, but VAR disallowed the goal for offside. This was another mistake from Nyland that cost Norway.

Ronaldo, aged 41, watched the match from the bench. He is still chasing his goal of reaching 1,000 career goals. He is currently 21 goals away from that mark.

Portugal also missed their captain Bruno Fernandes due to injury. This win marked Portugal's second victory in two matches in this season’s Nations League. Norway was left regretting their goalkeeper’s mistakes.
