Pride of Rivers looks to stay unbeaten despite busy schedule

The unbeaten Pride of Rivers will play their third match in six days when they host a Lagos team at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday, October 4, in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Finidi George’s team faced Ranchers Bees on Monday before heading to Katsina United on Wednesday. This tight schedule will test their squad depth and fitness again.

Still, the Port Harcourt club remains unbeaten in the 2026/27 season, with three wins and three draws in six matches. These results have pushed them to second place with 12 points, just one point behind leaders Rangers.

In their latest match, they ended in a 1-1 draw at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Samson Olasupo scored first for them shortly after halftime, but a deflected free-kick from Sani Mubarak, a former player of the club, brought the hosts level.

The visitors also played midweek, finishing with a 0-0 draw against Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. This left them with eight points from six matches, which includes two wins, two draws, and two losses.

The match brings together two teams looking to improve their standings early in the season. The home side will try to keep their unbeaten record, while the visitors aim to leave Port Harcourt with a good result. With both teams having played midweek, rotation, stamina, and efficiency may be key.
