Galatasaray and Portugal player Rafa Leão has talked about what it means to wear the No. 7 shirt. He said it lets him pay tribute to his childhood hero, Cristiano Ronaldo.
On Saturday, Fabrizio Romano shared Leão's thoughts on X. The Portuguese forward mentioned that wearing this famous number is special because Ronaldo has been his idol since he was young.
“It’s been special for me to wear the No. 7 shirt because Cristiano is my idol since I was a child,” Leão said.
The number also holds personal meaning for Leão, as both his children were born on the 7th.
“My kids were also born on the 7th, so I am so happy,” he added.
Leão expressed that he has done his best to honor the shirt’s significance. He was glad to celebrate a win while wearing it.
“I tried my best to respect this number, this shirt. I am happy with the win,” he said.
Portugal enjoyed a strong win against Denmark. Players João Cancelo, Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha, and João Félix all scored goals.
