Real Madrid has officially denied any talks with Michael Olise or his agents. This comes amid transfer rumors linking the Bayern Munich winger to the Spanish club.
The club made the announcement on their website on Saturday. They said there has been no direct or indirect contact with Olise, his team, or his representatives. This was in response to various reports in the media.
“Given the information that appeared in various media about an alleged interest of our club for the Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid C. F. wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned footballer, his representatives or people around him,” the statement said.
“Both clubs have always maintained a relationship based on trust and mutual respect, which is reflected, among other aspects, in the shared conviction that any eventual interest in a player belonging to the other club must be treated first among the entities themselves, in accordance with the principles of institutional loyalty that have historically presided over the relations between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid,” the statement added.
This denial follows days of gossip, partly started by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. He suggested that Real Madrid was interested in the former Crystal Palace player, who moved to Bayern last season.
After Romano shared the official statement on X, football fans reacted with skepticism, humor, and teasing.
#anfieeldd wrote, “This was you btw,” while quoting an earlier post from Romano about Florentino Pérez’s supposed plans for Olise.
#NserekoColline chimed in, “And you’re the leading distributor of all those rumours,” and added a funny meme.
Some fans questioned Romano directly. #BlancosBaller asked, “Aren’t you the one who said Real Madrid contacted him?” Other users joined in to make jokes about the situation.
#Crown__001 commented, “Grandpa Perez tried to impress Madrid fans just to win the election.” Meanwhile, #Sirvicksworld01 pointed out, “Bro, you were among the media,” referring to Romano’s part in spreading the stories.
A few fans defended the club’s position or guessed at possible reasons behind the rumors. #outcntxtmorocco said, “The Olise saga continues: Real Madrid want him, then they don’t, then they really want him again, and suddenly they’re not interested… But as they say, no smoke without fire… in the end, they will probably sign him.”
“Real Madrid releasing a full corporate statement denying interest in a player? We unironically saw this exact same script with Kylian Mbappé like three times before he signed. I’m not falling for this institutional loyalty speech, Florentino,” #FunFactsOG commented.
The statement shows Real Madrid’s aim to keep clear and honest relations in the busy transfer market, where rumors often come before official agreements.
