Real Warri Pikin and Delta Groups Settle Dispute Over Comedy Show

Nigerian comedian Anita Asuoha, known as Real Warri Pikin, has settled a disagreement with groups in Delta State over her upcoming comedy show in Effurun. All parties have agreed to work together for a successful event.

The resolution was announced in a joint statement on Facebook on Thursday. The statement was signed by Real Warri Pikin, members of the Wado City Advocacy Group, Collins Eselemo, Chief Godfrey Ishegbe, and a representative from the Delta State Government.

This reconciliation came after days of back and forth about the event. It was initially advertised as a Real Warri Pikin show in Warri, even though it was set to take place in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The Wado City Advocacy Group raised concerns about the branding. They insisted that Effurun should be clearly identified as the event's location.

After the reconciliation meeting, the parties announced that the disagreement was resolved peacefully.

"The meeting provided an opportunity for everyone involved to speak openly, clarify concerns and address the issues that caused the disagreement," the statement noted.

It also mentioned that all parties had decided to leave the dispute behind and collaborate to ensure the event goes well.

"After extensive discussions, all parties agreed to put the matter behind them and work together in the interest of peace and the successful hosting of the event," the statement added.

The groups also agreed to stop any public arguments about the disagreement, especially on social media.

"It was also unanimously agreed that there would be no further public confrontation, exchange of accusations or hostile communication concerning the matter, whether on social media or through any other platform," they stated.

They recognized that the public disagreement had upset many.

"We therefore jointly extend our sincere apologies to anyone who may have been inconvenienced, disappointed or affected by the manner in which the disagreement became public," the statement said.

The parties emphasized that this resolution should not be seen as a win for anyone.

"There are no winners or losers in this matter. What is important is that the concerns raised have been addressed, communication has been restored and all parties have committed themselves to working together respectfully," they said.

They also mentioned that the new date, venue, and complete address for the event would be shared once arrangements are settled.

The earlier controversy led to the cancellation of the planned comedy show on September 20 at Monarchy Event Centre on the Effurun-Sapele Road due to objections about its branding and location.

Real Warri Pikin had mentioned that the disagreement included threats and described the situation as part of wider ethnic tensions in the area.
