Rechael Okonkwo launches her memoir 'Odogwu Girl'

Actress and philanthropist Rechael Okonkwo, widely known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has added a new title to her achievements. She launched her first memoir, Odogwu Girl: From Dreams to Reality.

The book was launched on Sunday at a lively event in Lagos. Family, friends, colleagues, and many notable figures from the entertainment and literary worlds attended the ceremony.

Published by Inemesit Hanson, the memoir tells Okonkwo’s story. It covers her rise from a modest background to becoming one of Nollywood’s most famous actresses. The book shares the challenges, setbacks, and successes that shaped her career. It emphasizes themes of resilience, purpose, and self-belief.

Speaking at the launch, Okonkwo said she wrote the book to motivate women and others facing difficulties in life.

“I feel proud of myself. I’m glad I’ve come this far, and I’m happy to have written something that will inspire, encourage and motivate women to keep believing in themselves, no matter what they are going through or where they come from. I want everyone who reads this book to leave feeling encouraged and empowered,” she said.

Okonkwo mentioned that the memoir shows years of hard work and strong faith. She hopes it will inspire young people, especially women, to understand that their situation does not decide their future.

The actress is also known for her charity work that supports women and young people. She said this book fits her goal of empowerment through mentorship, education, and personal growth.

She pointed out that the book includes practical life lessons based on her personal experiences.

Reflecting on what inspired her to write the memoir, Okonkwo shared her story of losing her father when she was just 13. After that, she took on the responsibility of caring for her five younger siblings.
