Rechael Okonkwo launches her memoir ‘Odogwu Girl’

Actress and philanthropist Rechael Okonkwo, also known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has added author to her achievements. She unveiled her first memoir, Odogwu Girl: From Dreams to Reality.

The book was launched on Sunday at a lively event in Lagos. Family, friends, colleagues, and many notable people from the entertainment and literary fields attended the ceremony.

Published by Inemesit Hanson, the memoir tells Okonkwo’s story. It shares her journey from a modest background to becoming one of Nollywood’s best-known actresses. The book discusses the challenges, setbacks, and successes that shaped her career. It also focuses on themes of strength, purpose, and believing in oneself.

At the event, the actress expressed her hope that the book would inspire women and anyone facing difficulties in life.

"I feel proud of myself. I’m glad I’ve come this far, and I’m happy to have written something that will inspire, encourage and motivate women to keep believing in themselves, no matter what they are going through or where they come from. I want everyone who reads this book to leave feeling encouraged and empowered," she said.

Okonkwo mentioned that the memoir shows years of hard work and strong faith. She wants to encourage young people, especially women, to understand that their current situation does not define their future.

Known for her humanitarian work that supports women and youth, she said the book fits her goal of empowerment through mentorship, education, and personal growth.

She added that the memoir includes practical life lessons based on her own experiences.

Looking back on what inspired her to write the book, Okonkwo shared that she lost her father at 13. After that, she took on the responsibility of caring for her five younger siblings.
