Seven people, including three children, have died in a road accident. Eleven others were injured in the crash that happened in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The accident took place at Tashan Magariya Junction along the Gombe, Billiri road around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. A heavy-duty truck, two Volkswagen Golf cars, and five motorcycles were involved.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash was due to suspected brake failure. This problem caused the truck driver to lose control while coming from Gombe towards Yola.

The truck hit the two cars and five motorcycles. This means eight vehicles were part of the crash.

The report shared that the dead included four adult men, two boys, and a girl.

Among the 11 injured, there were four adult men, three adult women, and four girls. They had different injuries like severe fractures, cuts, and bruises.

The FRSC counted 25 people involved in the accident. But they did not give details about the conditions of the remaining seven individuals.

The agency got an emergency call at 5:32 p.m. and arrived at the scene just two minutes later.

The injured victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Kumo for treatment. Eleven people also received first aid on the spot.

The vehicles involved in this accident were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Kumo. They will look into the matter and take necessary steps.

Right now, the names of those who died and the latest health status of the injured are not known.

This suspected mechanical failure that caused the crash shows how dangerous faulty vehicles can be for drivers, motorcyclists, and other road users.
