Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after attending the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) in Luanda, Angola.

VP Shettima stood in for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the important summit. Nigeria pushed for stronger African-led ways to prevent and solve conflicts. The country also called for immediate action against ongoing xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks on Africans and others in South Africa.

During the summit, Nigeria supported the Luanda Action Plan. The country urged for better funding for Africaโ€™s peace and security efforts. Nigeria also asked for greater shared responsibility among AU member states and more African-led solutions to conflicts across the continent.

After finishing his activities in Angola, the Vice President returned to Abuja.
