Tottenham Hotspur grabbed a late 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday. Dominic Solanke scored in stoppage time, even though Spurs had only 10 players on the pitch.
United looked set to win after Bryan Mbeumo scored in the 73rd minute. He finished a move set up by Matheus Cunha.
But Solanke saved Tottenham by scoring in the 90+2nd minute. He headed in a cross from Sandro Tonali, quieting the home fans.
Before United took the lead, Tottenham had several chances but could not score. Solanke missed a good opportunity early in the second half, and other promising attacks were also wasted.
Things got tougher for Spurs in the 78th minute when Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off. This happened after he clashed with Manchester United defender Luke Shaw.
The incident led to a scuffle with players from both teams getting involved. Shaw, Bentancur, and Tottenham defender Jan Paul van Hecke were all part of the confrontation.
Even with one player down, Tottenham kept pushing for a goal. They finally got their reward when Solanke scored from Tonali’s cross late in added time.
Mbeumo’s goal had given United the lead after a frustrating afternoon for Tottenham, who had threatened to score multiple times without success.
The result meant United missed out on all three points at home. Meanwhile, Tottenham managed to earn a draw after facing the setback of Bentancur's red card.
The match ended 1-1, with Solanke’s late header being the key moment at Old Trafford.
