Spain Wins World Cup Again as Ferran Torres Scores Against Argentina

Spain won the FIFA World Cup for the second time after Ferran Torres scored in extra time. They beat 10-man Argentina 1-0 in the final on Sunday.

The match stayed goalless after 90 minutes. Spain had most of the ball and created better chances. Argentina's goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, played really well. He made several important saves to keep his team in the game.

Spain almost scored in the fifth minute when Lamine Yamal made Martinez work hard for a save. The Aston Villa goalkeeper kept shining throughout the match, stopping shots from Aymeric Laporte, Ferran Torres, and Nico Williams.

Argentina had injury problems before halftime. Lisandro Martinez had to leave the game in the 44th minute due to injury. Nicolas Otamendi came on to replace him as coach Lionel Scaloni changed his defense.

Spain's coach, Luis de la Fuente, made changes in the second half. He brought on Pedri and Ferran Torres, and Nico Williams and Mikel Merino also came off the bench to add more pressure.

The big moment came late in stoppage time. Argentina's Enzo Fernandez got a second yellow card for a bad tackle. This left Argentina with 10 players before extra time.

Even with one man down, Martinez kept stopping shots. He made another great save against Nico Williams’ close-range header. He also blocked a dangerous free-kick from Yamal at the end of normal time.

Spain thought they scored early in extra time. But Mikel Merino’s goal got ruled out for a foul after a video check.

The breakthrough finally came in the 106th minute. Nico Williams met a cross and headed it towards Ferran Torres. Torres then calmly shot past Martinez to score the only goal of the final.

Argentina tried to equalize, but Spain's defense stood strong to secure the win.

Torres became the second Spanish player to score in a men’s World Cup final. Andres Iniesta scored the famous extra-time winner against the Netherlands in 2010.

This loss meant Argentina became the first team to have three players sent off in a men’s World Cup final. Pedro Monzon and Gustavo Dezotti were sent off in the 1990 final, and now Fernandez joined them.

Spain’s victory ended Argentina’s time as world champions and added another exciting chapter to La Roja’s football story.
