Spain Wins World Cup Again Thanks to Ferran Torres' Goal Against Argentina

Spain has won the FIFA World Cup for the second time. Ferran Torres scored in extra time to give Spain a 1-0 win over 10-man Argentina in the final on Sunday.

The match ended 0-0 after 90 minutes. Spain had most of the ball and created more chances. Argentina's goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, was impressive. He made several key saves to keep Argentina in the game.

Spain nearly scored early. In the fifth minute, Lamine Yamal forced Martinez into a save. Martinez continued to shine, stopping shots from Aymeric Laporte, Ferran Torres, and Nico Williams.

Before halftime, Argentina faced injury problems. Lisandro Martinez had to leave the game in the 44th minute due to an injury. Nicolas Otamendi came on to replace him as Lionel Scaloni changed his defense.

In the second half, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente brought in Pedri and Ferran Torres. Nico Williams and Mikel Merino also came off the bench to put more pressure on Argentina.

The game changed late in stoppage time. Argentina's Enzo Fernandez received a second yellow card for a bad tackle. This left Argentina with 10 men before extra time.

Even with one less player, Martinez kept frustrating Spain. He made another great save to stop Nico Williams’ header and then blocked a dangerous free-kick from Yamal at the end of regular time.

Spain thought they had scored early in extra time when Mikel Merino found the net. But after a video review, the goal was disallowed for a foul.

The goal finally came in the 106th minute. Nico Williams headed the ball to Ferran Torres, who fired it past Martinez to score the only goal of the match.

Argentina tried to find an equaliser, but Spain's defense stayed solid to secure the win.

With this goal, Torres became the second Spanish player to score in a men’s World Cup final. The first was Andres Iniesta, who scored in extra time against the Netherlands in 2010.

This defeat meant Argentina became the first team to have three players sent off in a men’s World Cup final. Pedro Monzon and Gustavo Dezotti were sent off in the 1990 final, and now Fernandez joins them.

Spain’s win has ended Argentina’s reign as world champions. It adds another great moment to Spain’s football history.
