The Nigeria Football Federation says only six players are yet to join the Super Falcons in Casablanca as of Sunday. The team is preparing for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Nineteen of the 25 invited players are already in camp. They are getting ready for Nigeria’s first Group B match against Malawi on July 28. Head coach Justine Madugu is leading a training session with 15 players at the La Noria Club.
On Sunday, the camp got a boost when BK Hacken players Halimatu Ayinde and Joy Omewa arrived in Casablanca. Also, Pachuca Tuzas defender Osinachi Ohale and forward Chinwendu Ihezuo are on their way to the North African country.
Some players already in camp include captain Rasheedat Ajibade and first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. Defenders Shukurat Oladipo, Rofiat Imuran, Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Sikiratu Isah, and Christy Ucheibe are also present. Midfielders Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini, along with forwards Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, and Omorinsola Babajide, have also joined. Goalkeepers Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko are part of the squad too.
Six players are still expected to arrive. These include defender Michelle Alozie, midfielder Deborah Abiodun, and forwards Gift Monday, Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Uchenna Kanu.
Now that most of the team is together, training has picked up. The nine-time African champions are getting ready to defend their title, starting with a strong performance against Malawi, followed by matches against other teams in Group B.
