The Super Falcons are getting ready for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. On Monday, players started arriving at their camp in Casablanca, Morocco, to prepare for their title defence, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Some of the first players to show up included captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala. Defenders Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Rofiat Imuran, and Shukurat Oladipo were also among those who arrived. Midfielder Christy Ucheibe and Abia Angels goalkeeper Fatima Oloko completed the early arrivals as Nigeria, a record 10-time African champion, began its final preparations for the tournament.

The training sessions will help head coach Justine Madugu and his team refine their tactics and build team spirit. They want to make sure the squad is in top shape before moving to Rabat for the tournament.

Nigeria will compete from July 26 to August 16 in Morocco. They aim to keep their title, make it 11 championships, and secure a spot for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Other notable players in Madugu’s 25-player squad expected to arrive include Osinachi Ohale, Jennifer Echegini, Toni Payne, Michelle Alozie, Halimatu Ayinde, Deborah Abiodun, Esther Okoronkwo, Francisca Ordega, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Omorinsola Babajide, Gift Monday, and Uchenna Kanu.

Goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor from Portsmouth, defender Sikiratu Isah from Israel, forward Joy Omewa from Sweden, and Folashade Ijamilusi from China are also expected to join the camp soon.

The Super Falcons are in Group C. They will start their title defence against Malawi on July 28. The next match will be against Zambia on August 1, and they will wrap up their group games against Egypt on August 5.

Nigeria is chasing an 11th WAFCON title after beating hosts Morocco 3-2 in last year’s final, winning their 10th continental trophy.

This year’s expanded tournament has 16 teams and will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The four teams that reach the semi-finals will automatically qualify for the finals in Brazil, while the fifth-placed team will move on to the intercontinental play-offs.
