A 19-year-old girl, Omowole Opeyemi, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her 22-year-old boyfriend with a broken bottle during a fight in Okitipupa, Ondo State.
PUNCH Metro learned from a Facebook post by Ikale Heritage TV on Sunday that the problem started from a disagreement between them.
In a video shared by the page, Opeyemi explained that a quarrel broke out between her and the victim. This led her to break a bottle and stab him.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a phone call with our reporter on Sunday. He said the suspect is now in police custody.
Jimoh stated that the incident took place on June 12, 2026, at a club on Broad Street in Okitipupa. He explained that the argument escalated into a fight, and during this, Opeyemi allegedly attacked the man with the broken bottle.
He added that initial investigations showed the victim suffered injuries and was quickly taken to the hospital for care.
Jimoh said, “The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old female suspect, Omowole Opeyemi, in connection with a case of grievous harm reported in Okitipupa.
“Initial investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old male victim with a broken bottle following an argument that escalated into a physical fight at a club along Broad Street, Okitipupa, on June 12, 2026.”
The spokesperson mentioned that police acted quickly after getting a report of the fight and arrested the suspect.
“Upon receiving the report, police detectives swiftly arrested the suspect, while the victim was taken to the State Specialist Hospital for medical treatment,” he added.
The police said investigations are ongoing and promised to share more updates as the case moves forward.
In another video update from Okitipupa Heritage TV, the victim, known simply as Tosin, said he survived the attack. He claimed that the suspect stabbed him and also stole his phone.
“Family, all my people, I did not die. The lady just wants to kill me. She stabbed me. Ope, the daughter of Amotekun, wanted to kill me. This is where she stabbed me (pointing to a part of his chest with bandages).
“They have stolen my phone, and everything is rough,” Tosin said in Yoruba (now translated).
