Detectives from the Ibafo Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three women believed to be part of a child-stealing gang.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, shared this news in a statement on the command's X page on Friday.

The police named the three suspects as Kikelomo Jimoh (36), Kayode Elizabeth, and Blessing Anochike (60). They also said three children related to the case were rescued.

The statement said, “The breakthrough followed a careful intelligence-led investigation into a reported child stealing case, which led to the arrest of Kikelomo Jimoh. During questioning, the suspect admitted and took detectives to Blessing Anochike's house, where three children were rescued.”

Details of the Rescue

The investigation revealed that the rescued children are Christiana Olowokere, 14; Olamilekan Abdurusheed, 16; and Adeniji Rebecca, 12. Initial findings show that Christiana was allegedly sold for N500,000, while Olamilekan, who had previously run away from home, was later kidnapped.

“The situation surrounding Adeniji Rebecca's movement and care is also being looked into. The police acted quickly to ensure the safe rescue of the three children, who are now safe. The suspects are still in police custody.”

The case has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta. They will carry out a thorough investigation to understand all the details, find out the roles of each suspect, and identify any other people involved in this crime.

Police Response

The Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, praised the Ibafo Division detectives for their quick response, thorough investigation, and dedication to protecting children and vulnerable individuals.
