President Bola Tinubu has sent his best wishes to Basheer Lado, his special adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate), as he turned 60 on 16 October.
The president called Mr Lado, a former senator, a reliable public servant and skilled legislator. He served in the Senate for four years before becoming Tinubu's liaison officer in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
According to President Tinubu, Mr Lado's experience in lawmaking and public administration has been a plus for the country. He has helped to build good relationships between the Executive and the Senate.
Lado represented Kano Central Senatorial District in the 7th National Assembly from 2011 to 2015. While in the Senate, he was the vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Works.
President Tinubu said, “In the several capacities he has found himself, Senator Lado has been very impactful. As Senator, Lado facilitated the Kundila Bridge, popularly known as Gadar Lado, among other projects for his constituents in Kano.”
The president added, “As Federal Commissioner at the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons and as Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Lado helped protect vulnerable Nigerians, confronting human trafficking and advancing the welfare and rehabilitation of displaced persons.”
Tinubu continued, “His humanitarian gesture is further reflected in his Ladon Alheri Foundation, particularly in education, healthcare, women’s economic empowerment, rural water supply and support for disadvantaged communities.”
As Senator Lado reaches 60, President Tinubu praised his dedication to public service and loyalty to the Renewed Hope administration. He recognized Lado's significant contributions to strengthening democracy in Nigeria.
The president concluded, “I congratulate him on this milestone and wish him good health, wisdom and strength as he continues to serve our nation.”
