President Bola Tinubu has changed the name of the Institute of Petroleum Studies in Kaduna to the “General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering.”
The Nigerian leader shared this news during his Friday morning speech for this year’s Democracy Day.
“Among the architects of modern democratic Nigeria, we honour General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua for his vision of national partnership. In recognition of his contributions, the Federal Government has approved the revitalisation and renaming of the completed Institute of Petroleum Studies, Kaduna, as the General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology,” Mr Tinubu said.
Mr Yar’Adua was a relative of Nigeria’s late former president, Umaru Yar’Adua. He passed away in December 1997 while in prison after being accused of plotting a coup by the then military ruler, Sani Abacha.
