Tiwa Savage agrees to Teni's boxing challenge

Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has said yes to a boxing challenge from fellow singer Teni. She told Teni to choose a date after the “Fargin” star called her out in a viral video, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Teni, whose full name is Teniola Atinuke Apata, shared the video on Friday, October 2. In the video, she offered a fight purse of ₦1.5 billion.

Tiwa, famous for her song “Somebody’s Son”, responded in the comments with a simple message: “Pick a date.”

Teni made her challenge while talking about how much Nigerian entertainers earn and the expensive cars some of them own. She painted a funny picture of herself as an angry fighter in the ring and joked that she would ignore Tiwa’s son, Jamil, once the fight started.

“Let’s fight, Tiwa Savage and me. Mummy, I will beat you till you enter bush. Me that’s angry, I wouldn’t even look at Jamal’s face. I will cut my eyes. One, one billion. How much them dey buy all these cars? If they pay us N1.5 billion, can I buy a Bugatti? Make we first start from there. Mama, make we fight. Tiwa, I beat you, then sing ‘My Darling’ for you,” Teni said.

The promise to sing to Tiwa after the fight added some fun to the video. But Tiwa’s response turned the joke into something real. Many fans saw her reply as an unofficial sign that both women might actually consider fighting. Teni, who is also known for her hit “Askamaya”, is known for making bold moves beyond just music.

Right now, there is no promoter, contract, or fight date announced. So, for now, this exchange is just playful banter.
