Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has been nominated twice for Ajax Amsterdam’s Goal of the Month award for October 2026. This comes after he had a great month scoring goals for the team.
The Nigerian forward played six matches and scored four goals. His performance has been key to Ajax's attack as he continues to make a name for himself.
Arokodare earned nominations for two of his goals. One was against Atalanta in the UEFA Conference League and the other was against AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie. Both goals have put him on the shortlist for the monthly prize.
His first nomination was from the match against Atalanta on October 22. In that game, Arokodare made a significant impact just three minutes before the end.
After getting a long pass from Youri Baas, Arokodare controlled the ball well. He took on a defender and calmly slotted it past the goalkeeper. This goal helped Ajax take the lead in the match.
The 25-year-old also shone in Ajax’s last game of the month. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against AZ Alkmaar.
Arokodare jumped over AZ defender Mees de Wit to connect with Abdellah Ouazane’s cross in the ninth minute. He powered a header into the net, securing all three points for Ajax.
These two goals have put Arokodare among the nominees, but he has tough competition from his teammates.
Ouazane also received two nominations. Other nominees include Davy Klaassen, Leo Salazar, Abdoulaye Camara, and Naoufal Mouslim.
Arokodare joined Ajax on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in July. The deal includes an option for Ajax to buy him permanently.
His four goals in October and now these nominations show that the Nigerian striker is doing well in Amsterdam.
