The family of late Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has delayed her burial indefinitely. This comes days after her death raised questions about what happened in her last moments.
The family shared the news in a statement on the actress’ official Instagram page on Wednesday. They mentioned the need for more arrangements and to sort out important matters.
This decision follows a candlelight vigil and artists’ night held in honour of Osoba.
“With deep sadness, the family of Tope Osoba wishes to inform friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers that the burial ceremony has been POSTPONED until further notice,” the statement said.
The family asked for the public's understanding and continued prayers and support during this time.
“The family respectfully asks everyone for their understanding, patience, prayers, and continued support during this difficult and sensitive period,” it added.
They will announce the new burial date and venue through their official channels once they sort out the pending matters.
The family also thanked those who came to the candlelight vigil and others who have supported them since Osoba’s passing.
“The new burial date and venue will be communicated officially by the family once the necessary matters have been resolved,” the statement noted.
Osoba, 40, passed away on August 5. The details around her death are still unclear. Her passing has sparked controversy due to different stories about her last moments and claims involving her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko.
The Celestial Church of Christ said on Tuesday that it is quietly looking into the circumstances of her death.
