Trabzonspor has turned down head coach Fatih Tekke’s resignation. This comes after the Turkish club suffered a heavy defeat in the Europa League against Ferencvaros.
Tekke decided to resign after Trabzonspor lost 4-0 in Hungary on Thursday. This loss led to a 5-0 aggregate defeat in their play-off tie.
According to BBC Sport, the club did not accept the 48-year-old’s resignation on Friday. They said his decision came from the strong emotional impact of the European exit.
Last season, Tekke helped Trabzonspor finish third in the Turkish Super Lig. He will continue as coach while the club focuses on the Europa Conference League.
