Trabzonspor has told Al Ahli they need to pay €30m to sign Paul Onuachu. The Super Eagles striker is facing an important few weeks regarding his future at the Turkish club, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Onuachu has had a lot of uncertainty this summer. He just came back to Trabzonspor last season. The Saudi Pro League team is very interested in the 32-year-old. They are expected to meet with the Turkish club again this week to talk about a possible deal.

Onuachu is said to be open to leaving Trabzonspor. But any transfer depends on whether the club’s price is met.

He rejoined Trabzonspor after a loan spell during the 2023/24 season from Southampton. He made that move permanent last season. He had a fantastic campaign, scoring 26 goals across all competitions. Out of those, 22 goals were in the league, making him joint top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig with Istanbul Basaksehir’s Eldor Shomurodov. He also helped the club win the Turkish Cup, scoring twice in the final as Trabzonspor beat Konyaspor 2-1.

Trabzonspor turned down two offers for the striker before. They wanted to keep their Golden Boot winner. But now, their position seems to have softened. They are close to signing former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez from Al Hilal. If that deal goes through, Trabzonspor will have a replacement and this may clear the way for Onuachu to leave.

There are other clubs interested in their striker. Turkish rivals Fenerbahce showed interest before but have now shifted their focus to Romelu Lukaku. They completed a deal for the Belgian from Napoli.

Al Hilal might also join the race. They had a reported €130m bid for fellow Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, turned down. If Karim Benzema leaves Al Hilal as reported, they may look at Onuachu as an alternative target.

For now, Onuachu is still a Trabzonspor player. But a decision about his future might come soon. Al Ahli is pushing for his signature. The Nigerian could be heading for a new challenge just one year after returning to Turkey on a permanent deal.
