Troops from Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, have rescued four people who were kidnapped in Zamfara and Kebbi states. The victims were freed during separate operations in these two states.

The rescues happened on Wednesday after ongoing military actions against criminal activities.

Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, the spokesman for the 8 Division, Sector 2, shared the news with our reporter on Thursday. He said the rescue missions took place in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and between Bena and Sawade in Kebbi State.

Osoba mentioned that troops rescued two victims named Mansur Shehu, 25, and Kadijat Haruna, 49, from a farm in Binoni Marafa, Maru LGA.

"In Zamfara State, troops rescued Mansur Shehu, aged 25, and Kadijat Haruna, aged 49, from a farmland in Binoni Marafa during the operation," Osoba said.

In Kebbi State, the soldiers rescued two more victims, Jimoh Su-Arege, 35, and Kalahe Danjuma, 41, between Bena and Sawade.

Osoba explained that the rescue followed reports of suspected terrorists moving with kidnap victims from Dipindu village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

"Following the report, troops moved to the area and successfully rescued the two victims, who were subsequently handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu," he added.

Osoba stated that troops are increasing patrols and surveillance in their areas to limit the freedom of movement for criminals and stop more attacks.

He confirmed the military’s promise to protect lives and property, especially in communities facing kidnapping and other security issues in the North-West.

These recent rescue efforts come as the military continues to fight against insecurity and aims to bring peace back to troubled communities in Zamfara and Kebbi states.
