Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has said he wants British-Nigerian Anthony Joshua to fight Deontay Wilder after his fight with Tyson Fury on December 11. This was reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.
Tyson believes Fury will win the upcoming heavyweight clash at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. But he is eager to see a Joshua-Wilder fight afterwards. He shared his thoughts on DJ WHOO KID’s show.
Talking about Fury, he said, “Tyson’s always been known to handle pressure well, but it’s going to be interesting to watch this fight. I know Joshua’s going to be throwing faster punches, but his punches can’t be faster than Deontay Wilder’s.”
He added, “I wanna see him (Joshua) fight Deontay.”
The fight was announced on September 24 by Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh. It will be streamed on Netflix, starting early on December 12. Cardiff Council still needs to approve changes to the stadium license for the late start.
The winner of this fight will take home the WBA ‘super’ title. This is despite Murat Gassiev holding the governing body's ‘regular’ belt and considering himself a world champion.
Many fans believe Fury has the advantage.
At 37 years old, Fury won against Arslanbek Makhmudov on points and beat Mariusz Wach by stoppage this year without facing much danger. He has a record of 36 wins, two losses, and one draw.
Joshua, who is 36, has a record of 30 wins and four losses. He won against Prenga by second-round knockout in Jeddah in July after being knocked down twice in the first round.
