The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to host a watch party on Sunday for the first El Clásico of the 2026/27 season. Barcelona will try to maintain their lead in LaLiga against their rivals, Real Madrid.
The watch party, organized by StarTimes and Meridianbet, will take place at King Jaja Hall starting from 6 p.m. The match kicks off at 9 p.m.
Fans can expect entertainment, activities, and giveaways. Supporters are encouraged to wear their club colors.
Oke Umurhohwo, the Marketing Director at StarTimes Nigeria, said the event is a chance for fans to come together and enjoy the match.
“Football is more exciting when fans experience it together, and few matches generate as much passion as El Clásico. At StarTimes, we want to go beyond broadcasting the game to creating opportunities for fans to connect, celebrate their clubs and enjoy the excitement of football in a memorable atmosphere.
“Our partnership with Meridianbet allows us to bring this experience closer to football lovers at UNILAG, combining live football, entertainment and fan engagement in one exciting evening,” he said.
Sunday’s match at Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou is crucial for the LaLiga title race. Barcelona has won all nine of their league matches and leads Real Madrid by six points.
If Barcelona wins, they will increase their lead to nine points. A win for Real Madrid will cut the gap to three points.
Barcelona goes into the game after their winning streak was ended by Paris Saint-Germain, who defeated them 4-2 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The loss did not change their perfect league record but adds pressure ahead of the clash with their biggest rivals.
Real Madrid hopes to take advantage of Barcelona’s setback in Europe and close the gap at the top of the league.
