Unilever Nigeria Plc has named Modupe Femi-Okunbanjo as its new Executive Director. This follows the resignation of Ibrahim Sodipe, which took effect on June 30.
The company announced this change in a regulatory filing on Monday. They praised Mr Sodipe for his contributions to the firm.
Unilever Nigeria said Mr Sodipe helped improve turnover and profitability. His efforts supported the company's ongoing journey towards sustainable growth.
The company is optimistic about the new Executive Director. They noted that Ms Femi-Okunbanjo’s career shows trust, transparency, and transformation.
"Modupe’s career reflects a consistent theme: finance as a driver of trust, transparency, and transformation," the company stated.
Ms Femi-Okunbanjo is a well-respected leader in finance and governance. She has over 15 years of experience leading finance teams, shaping strategy, and improving risk management in the fast-moving consumer goods and telecommunications sectors.
Currently, she is the Financial Controller for Nigeria and the Regional Controls Lead for West Africa at Unilever Nigeria Plc. In this role, she manages financial governance, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management.
Her work has been key in promoting ethical leadership and data-driven decisions at the board level. She has also ensured the company stays strong amid changing market conditions.
Ms Femi-Okunbanjo has built a strong reputation for improving financial reporting and audit quality. She has also strengthened governance frameworks, helping organizations grow sustainably and create long-term value.
In her past roles, she has consistently boosted profit margins, improved governance and control systems, and led major changes even in tough economic times.
She is dedicated to nurturing future talent and increasing financial literacy among young people.
Before joining Unilever Nigeria Plc in 2018, Ms Femi-Okunbanjo worked in important roles at UAC of Nigeria Plc, Helios Towers Nigeria, and Makasa Sun Nigeria Limited. In these positions, she created control systems from scratch, stopped revenue losses, digitized operations, and instilled financial discipline.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Lagos State University and an MBA in Strategy from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, UK.
