Some unknown attackers have killed a 48-year-old man, Peter Baba Danasin, while he was travelling with his wife along a bush path in the Igbojaye area of Oyo State.
PUNCH Metro gathered on Thursday that the attack happened on Tuesday around 4 p.m. Danasin and his wife were on their way home from the Budo Seweje area of the state.
A counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, posted details of the attack on X. He reported that the assailants jumped out from the bush and attacked the couple.
Makama added that police sources revealed the attackers dealt Danasin multiple machete wounds while his wife managed to run away.
Makama said, “Two suspected attackers emerged from the bush and allegedly attacked the couple.
“The wife reportedly managed to escape, while Danasin sustained deep machete cuts across various parts of his body.
“He was said to have died at the scene from the injuries sustained during the attack.”
Makama also mentioned that a police team sent to the area found Danasin's body and took it to a morgue.
When we reached out on Thursday, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Alayande, confirmed the incident during a phone call.
Alayande stated that an investigation has started regarding the incident.
“The story is true, and efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects,” he said.
