US warns citizens against travel to Middle East again

The US State Department has issued another travel warning. They are advising citizens against going to the Middle East. Those already in the region should think about leaving or be ready to leave if things get worse.

This warning came out on Saturday as Washington considers new strikes on Iran. CNN, citing sources from the White House, reports that the US plans to hit Iran this weekend. The exact details of the bombing are still unclear and could be canceled. President Donald Trump mentioned on Friday that "we’ll be hitting them very hard."

In a statement on X, the State Department told Americans in the Middle East to "exercise caution and heightened vigilance."

They also advised people to be ready for flight cancellations, sudden airspace closures, and possible travel problems. "US citizens planning to travel to the Middle East should seriously reconsider," the advisory said.

The US issued a similar warning two weeks ago during a 13-day exchange of strikes with Iran. On the same day the State Department sent out the warning, there were explosions reported in Iran and in the Gulf states, which have faced retaliatory strikes from Tehran.

On Saturday, Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, praised the Iranian people for their resilience during the US-Israeli conflict. He called them heroes.

Meanwhile, the Iranian army has stated that US actions against Iran are increasing the chances of a broader regional conflict. Al Jazeera reported that a senior Iranian military leader warned nearby countries against getting "consumed by the flames of war."
