Real Madrid's forward Vinicius Jr has received a four-match ban from the Spanish Football Federation. This means he will miss the highly expected El Clásico against Barcelona on October 25.
The Brazilian player will not take part in Real Madrid's La Liga matches against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander, and Valencia. This follows his red card during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Villarreal.
Fabrizio Romano shared on X on Wednesday, “Vinicius Jr has been suspended for 4 La Liga games, out for El Clásico.
“The Brazilian will miss the following games, Sevilla (H), Barcelona (A), Racing Club (A) and Valencia (A).
The disciplinary committee gave him a two-match ban for violent conduct after he pulled the hair of Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba. They added another two-match suspension because of his protests after receiving the red card.
This incident happened when Vinicius seemed to have scored a second goal for Real Madrid. But the goal was disallowed after a video assistant referee review showed the hair-pulling incident.
He was sent off, and the referee's report noted his reaction to the red card.
After the match, Vinicius apologized to his teammates and the club’s fans for what happened.
This suspension is a big blow for Real Madrid ahead of their clash with fierce rivals Barcelona. Barcelona will host Real Madrid for the latest El Clásico.
