The Zamfara State Executive Council, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, has approved a contract for building the 53-kilometre Gusau, Jauri, Dogon Kade, Nasarawar Mailayi, Nasarawar Godel Road.
This decision was made during a Council meeting on 5th October 2026. They considered a memorandum from the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure. The Council also confirmed a previous approval from the Governor.
After a review by the Technical and Financial Evaluation Committee, CCECC Nigeria Limited was chosen as the Lowest Evaluated Responsive Bidder. Their contract amount is ₦70,896,387,618.50. The Ministry’s Tenders Board approved this recommendation.
The road project will take 18 months to complete. It includes a 7.3-metre-wide carriageway with 1.5-metre shoulders on both sides. It will have a 40mm wearing course, three major bridges, and various culverts. There will also be road furniture, traffic signs, road markings, and other necessary works to finish and open the road.
Once the road is finished, it is expected to:
- Improve road connectivity between Gusau and nearby communities.
- Help transport agricultural products and other goods to markets.
- Make it easier to access healthcare, education, and other essential services.
- Support security efforts and improve movement in the area.
- Encourage business and economic activities in the communities.
- Cut down travel time and reduce vehicle operating costs.
The State Government urges the contractor to complete the project to the required quality standards and within the agreed timeframe. They assure the public that the project will be monitored closely to ensure it meets specifications and provides value for money.
