Zenith Bank to Launch First Girl-Child Empowerment Programme

Zenith Bank Plc is about to kick off its first Girl-Child Empowerment Programme. This initiative aims to inspire young girls to dream big, build skills, and gain confidence to reach their goals. It will also prepare them for meaningful opportunities in the future.

The event is called “Banking On Her Tomorrow.” It was created by the Bank’s Group Managing Director and CEO, Dr Adaora Umeoji. She is the first woman to hold this position in Zenith Bank's history and is a strong supporter of girl-child education and empowerment. The programme will take place online on Monday, 12 October 2026, at 11:00 a.m. This is one day after the International Day of the Girl Child, which is celebrated worldwide on 11 October.

This programme will feature a great lineup of experts from different fields. It aims to give girls the inspiration, knowledge, and practical advice they need as they plan their education and careers. It will also expose them to opportunities in skills development, mentorship, and leadership. As an annual event, it will encourage girls to see their potential, expand their dreams, and equip themselves to make smart choices about their future.

The initiative builds on Zenith Bank’s long history of supporting women and girls. This is shown through various programmes, including the Bank’s annual International Women’s Day Seminar and its sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League. The Bank also holds the Women of Honour Awards in partnership with the Ford Foundation and runs the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.

These efforts go hand in hand with the Bank’s financial solutions aimed at women. One of these is the Z-Woman initiative, which supports women-owned and women-led businesses with special funding, training, and networking opportunities. All these initiatives show the Bank’s commitment to supporting women and girls at different stages of their lives while contributing to national development.
