The Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has said President Bola Tinubu aims to get over one million votes in Osun State in the 2027 presidential election.
Olajengbesi made this known on Saturday after meeting with the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
In a statement he signed himself, Olajengbesi, who is also the lawyer and spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, said the peace made in the state after the governorship election has opened the way to gather support for Tinubu.
He stated, “With the reconciliation achieved in Osun State and the commitment expressed by Governor Ademola Adeleke towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our political objective is clear: to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun State in the next presidential election.”
Olajengbesi praised Seyi Tinubu for his efforts in encouraging young people to take part in governance and for his fair stance during the Osun governorship election.
He said, “Perhaps one of the most important bets young Nigerians have had around this administration is Seyi Tinubu.
“He has consistently chosen to engage with young people, strengthen the negotiating power of our generation, support aspirations, open doors, build relationships and invest in possibilities.”
Adeleke from the Peoples Democratic Party won the August governorship election with 511,067 votes. The All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, got 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salam, received 17,180 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission stated that Osun State has more than 2.3 million registered voters, with 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards collected.
Shortly after he was declared the winner by INEC, Adeleke reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election.
