Nigerian music star Innocent Ujah Idibia, better known as 2Baba, has announced that he will release a new album called Oldest Young Man. This will be his first full-length studio project in six years.
The album has 16 tracks and is set to come out on 27 November 2026. This marks his return since his last album, Warriors, which he released in February 2020.
The singer teased the album on social media back in August. He said it reflects his life experiences and his ongoing presence in the music scene.
“I’ve lived it. I’ve seen it. I’m still here. My new album, OLDEST YOUNG MAN, is coming soon,” he posted.
The title seems to show the mix of getting older, gaining wisdom, and keeping the youthful spirit that has marked his music career.
Listening party and new single
2Baba gave fans a sneak peek of the album at a listening party on 19 September in Victoria Island, Lagos. This event also celebrated his 51st birthday.
The party was attended by family, friends, and many from the entertainment industry. Notable guests included his mother, Rose Idibia; his kids; former Plantashun Boiz bandmate Faze; music executives Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye; singers Wande Coal, Tony Tetuila, and Spyro; and comedian Ayo Makun.
A memorable moment was when 2Baba and Faze performed a freestyle together, reminiscing about their time in Plantashun Boiz, the influential music group they formed along with Blackface before going solo.
On his birthday, he also dropped a new single, Mental, featuring Fave. The song was produced by Dee Yasso and marks a collaboration between the veteran and a rising star in Nigerian music.
From Plantashun Boiz to solo success
2Baba was born in Jos and started his music career in the late 1990s as part of Plantashun Boiz with Blackface and Faze.
The group gained fame with their albums Body and Soul (2000) and Sold Out (2003) before splitting up, allowing the members to chase solo careers.
He became a solo artist with his debut album, Face 2 Face, in 2004. This album featured African Queen, one of his biggest hits that helped him gain fame across Africa and beyond.
He continued with albums like Grass 2 Grace (2006), The Unstoppable (2009), Away and Beyond (2012), The Ascension (2014), and Warriors (2020).
Warriors, released in February 2020, included collaborations with stars like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Peruzzi. The 13-track album had hits like Opo, Amaka, and Oyi.
Six-year gap and continued music career
Even though he has not put out a full-length album since Warriors, 2Baba has stayed busy with singles and collaborations.
In October 2024, he released Kuku Google Am, produced by Duktor Sett, while still working on new songs.
His upcoming album comes after he celebrated 25 years in the music industry in 2025. During this celebration, he looked back on his journey and thanked those who helped him along the way.
The album announcement also came during his The Baba Experience tour, an eight-city tour in the UK and Ireland that kicked off in London on 21 August 2026. The tour included stops in Manchester, Sunderland, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Reading, Derby, and Dublin.
With Oldest Young Man, the award-winning artist is gearing up to make a big return after a six-year break, bringing together his years of experience and ongoing involvement in Nigeria's changing music scene.
The full tracklist and featured artists for the album have not been announced yet.
