The candidate of the African Action Congress for Ondo West Constituency II in the 2027 Ondo State House of Assembly election, Akinsulere Akinshola, has promised to provide clear and accountable leadership if elected.
Akinshola, in a statement from his Campaign Media Office on Friday, thanked party members and supporters for choosing him as the AAC candidate for the upcoming election.
He said, “I want to use this medium to express gratitude to party members and supporters for the confidence reposed in me by electing me as the candidate to represent the party in the forthcoming general election in 2027.”
The AAC candidate said the people of Ondo West needed a new way of governance focused on transparency, development, and real public service.
He believes his education and work experience have prepared him for public office. “As a finance professional and entrepreneur, with a Bachelor of Science degree from Adekunle Ajasin University and a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Lagos, my academic and professional background has shaped my understanding of governance, public finance, and the role of effective legislation in promoting economic development,” he said.
Akinshola pointed out that people in the constituency deserve quality representation that puts their welfare first. “The people of Ondo West deserve more than political promises. Our people deserve representation that listens, leadership that is accountable, and legislation that directly improves their standard of living,” he stated.
He added that many residents have felt disconnected from the government over the years. He promised to close the gap between the people and those in power. “For too long, many citizens have felt disconnected from government. My mission is to bridge that gap and ensure that the voices of our people are represented where decisions are made,” he said.
Shift in Political Style
The AAC flagbearer also called for a change from what he called the old style of politics. He said governance should focus on public welfare, economic chances, and responsible leadership. “We cannot continue to recycle the same style of politics while expecting different results. The time has come for a people-driven movement that prioritises public welfare, economic opportunities, and responsible governance,” he said.
Talking about youth development, Akinshola described young people as valuable assets. He said their potential should be harnessed through supportive laws and empowerment programs. “Our youths are not liabilities; they are assets. We must enact laws and support initiatives that equip them with skills, opportunities, and an enabling environment where they can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.
He also promised to stay accessible and accountable to his constituents if elected. “Public office is a responsibility, not a privilege. If elected, I will remain accessible, transparent, and committed to the aspirations of the people of Ondo West,” he added.
Akinshola said his campaign slogan, “Our Future, My Priority,” shows his commitment to effective representation and sustainable development in the constituency. “This campaign is about the people of Ondo West. Together, we can build a constituency where opportunity, accountability, and development are not just campaign promises but real experiences,” he said.
