The Abia State Government has teamed up with the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON). This partnership aims to help local entrepreneurs prepare for exports and tackle the issue of fake and low-quality products in the state.
Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information, shared this news on Monday. He spoke to journalists after the State Executive Council meeting in Umuahia.
Mr Kanu explained that the Ministry of Trade and Commerce is working with SON. They will train and certify local entrepreneurs. This will help ensure that their products meet international export standards. He mentioned that the goal of this effort is to improve the quality of ‘Made-in-Abia’ products.
The initiative also aims to remove low-quality goods from markets, especially in Aba. It will help local manufacturers find their place in the global market.
