An Ahmadu Bello University student, Bello Ahmed, has died while doing his Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State. His death has brought sadness to the university community.
PUNCH Metro learned on Monday that Ahmed was a 400-level Electrical Engineering student and also worked as a fashion designer.
A friend of Ahmed, Yusuf Sani, shared details on Facebook. He said Ahmed suddenly fell ill on Sunday.
Sani mentioned that Ahmed was healthy when he went to his tailoring shop that day. “He was fine and healthy when he went to his shop yesterday. Later in the afternoon, he fell sick and was taken back home by his brother.
“Moments later, the sickness worsened, and by evening, Bello was pronounced dead,” Sani said.
Ahmed was buried on Monday around 9am at his family home in Dogarawa, Zaria, Kaduna State.
The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, ABU, reacted to the news shortly after it broke on Sunday. They expressed their sorrow over Ahmed’s death and offered prayers for him.
In a statement from the society’s Amir, Zayyad Abdulwahab, they remembered Ahmed as a beloved brother. They prayed for Allah’s mercy on him. “May Allah forgive his shortcomings, have mercy upon him, illuminate and widen his grave, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah make his grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise,” the statement read.
The society also prayed for strength and patience for Ahmed’s family, friends, and classmates affected by his passing. They encouraged everyone to keep them in their prayers.
“May Allah give his family, friends, coursemates and everyone affected by this loss the strength and patience to bear this difficult moment,” the statement added.
The society ended their message with prayers for forgiveness for Ahmed and a good ending for all.
