Top seed Abua Canice moved into the round of 16 at the 47th Central Bank of Nigeria Senior Tennis Championship on Tuesday. He beat 11th seed Sani Musa in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-3.
Second seed Adeleye Daniel also made it to the next round. He won comfortably with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
Sani-Inabo Yahaya secured his spot in the round of 16 too. His opponent, Ahli, retired while trailing 6-0, 3-0.
Women's Singles
In the women’s singles, top seed Mohammed Khadijat kept up her strong performance. She won decisively against Maxwell Timipre with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Sixth seed Ogunjobi Success also moved forward. She defeated wild card player Samuel with a score of 6-0, 6-3.
Udofia Mary joined Khadijat and Ogunjobi in the quarter-finals. She won convincingly against Blessing Otu with a score of 6-1, 6-1. Second seed Emmanuel-Essien Bright also advanced with a straight-sets win.
Other Matches
In other matches, Godwin Mary dominated Benjamin Indifreke, winning 6-1, 6-2. Bamidele Abosede also had a good match, defeating Ogah Loveth 6-2, 6-2.
More matches will take place on Wednesday to wrap up the preliminary rounds. The quarter-finals are set for Thursday.
