The Accord Party has announced Prof. Christopher Imumolen as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. This decision came after a consensus vote during the party’s National Presidential Primary Election.
Muktar Abdullah, the National Secretary of the Accord Party, shared this news in a statement to journalists in Abuja on Thursday. He mentioned that the primary election, which took place in Lagos, resulted in the selection of Professor Christopher Imumolen as the party’s presidential candidate. Abdullah highlighted that party leaders see his selection as proof of strong support nationwide and a commitment to giving Nigerians a trustworthy leadership option.
The statement said, “In a bid to chart a new, progressive path for our great nation ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections, the Accord Party has officially elected Prof. Christopher Imumolen as its presidential candidate. Prof. Imumolen was elected through a consensus vote, showing united party support across national, regional, and generational lines during the party’s National Presidential Primary Election held in Lagos.”
The convention attracted enthusiastic delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. They came together to choose the party’s candidate.
“His candidacy has strong backing, especially from the party’s younger members, who see him as the face of modern Nigerian leadership. As the youngest presidential candidate in the 2023 election cycle, Prof. Imumolen enters the 2027 race with more experience, strong grassroots connections, and broad appeal across the nation.
“He is a capable leader, a successful entrepreneur, and a well-known philanthropist, with the vision needed to solve Nigeria’s deep-rooted problems and set the country on a path to prosperity.”

Abdullah indicated that the Accord Party will soon present a detailed socio-economic plan to tackle the nation’s challenges. In his acceptance speech, Prof. Imumolen expressed gratitude to the delegates for their support and promised to run an inclusive, issue-focused campaign.
In his statement, Prof. Imumolen said, “Today, we held our primaries for the presidential candidate, and I have emerged as the candidate for Accord. This list will be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, and we await their official publication of the candidates later this September.”
“Prof. Imumolen committed that an Accord-led Federal Government will directly address the serious problem of unemployment, deal with widespread insecurity, and revamp the country’s economic system to help lift millions out of poverty.
“The Accord Party urges all well-meaning Nigerians, especially youths and professionals, to join forces with the party's authentic candidate as we work to build a nation that serves everyone.
