The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party has introduced its candidates for the 2027 general elections. This includes its governorship candidate, three senatorial candidates, and candidates for other legislative roles.

A total of 27 candidates for different elective positions across Lagos State, including the governorship candidate, Sowore Robert, received Certificates of Return at an event in Lagos on Saturday.

While speaking, the state chairman of the Accord Party, Dele Oladeji, said the certificate presentation officially confirmed the party’s candidates in the state.

Oladeji, who is also the party’s candidate for the Lagos West Senatorial District, noted that the Accord Party offers a credible political option for Lagos residents wanting a change from the current political situation.

He highlighted that the party focuses on social justice, fairness, and governance aimed at improving citizens’ well-being, enhancing security, and protecting lives and property.

Oladeji stated, “Today is important because it confirms the candidates of the Accord Party in Lagos State for the 2027 general elections. We are issuing Certificates of Return and officially presenting them as the party’s candidates for the upcoming elections.

“Lagos residents want a change from the current political situation, and the Accord Party has the vision and ability to bring about real change.”

The party’s candidate for the Lagos Central Senatorial District, Solomon Wahab, said his goal is to enhance governance and ensure that citizens gain more from democracy.

He stressed the need for more accountability in government and urged eligible Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and take part in the elections.

Wahab also asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that elections are transparent, free, and fair.

Similarly, the Accord Party’s House of Representatives candidate for the Badagry Federal Constituency, Joseph Jehoshaphat, promised to tackle infrastructure issues and youth unemployment if elected.

He mentioned that attracting federal projects and development initiatives to the constituency would be one of his main goals.

The Lagos State House of Assembly candidate for Somolu Constituency II, Abisoye Obayon, said he joined the race to drive development and create more opportunities for residents.

He is confident that voters will back candidates who have strong community ties and practical solutions to local problems.

Also speaking, the Lagos East Senatorial candidate, Blessing Maduka-Sunday, pushed for increased involvement of women in politics. She called the low representation of women in elective positions a barrier to inclusive governance.

She encouraged more women to run for office and called for policies that support women’s empowerment, reduce poverty, and create wealth.
