Nollywood actor Jimmy Rolland has said that his ex-wife tricked him into thinking she was a virgin before they married. He described the shock he felt on their wedding night as one of the biggest disappointments of his life.
In an episode of the African A-List podcast released on Saturday, Rolland shared that he ignored many warning signs before tying the knot with his ex-wife. He believed she was honest with him.
"I am not a fool. I saw signs, but I was hypnotised by my mother-in-law," he said.
Rolland mentioned that both his mother and some friends advised him against the marriage after what he called spiritual consultations.
"My mother and friends made spiritual consultations and warned me not to marry her, but I did not listen," he said.
The actor revealed that he dated his ex-wife for four years before they got married. Throughout their relationship, she repeatedly told him she was a virgin.
"She told me she was a virgin, so I did not bother to make attempts to make love to her. We dated for four good years," Rolland said.
He went on to explain that after their introduction, she insisted they wait until after the wedding to be intimate.
"After our introduction, she said, 'Till the wedding night.' I had to wait for some months, then on the wedding night, it ended up to be a lie," he said.
Rolland expressed how crushed he felt upon discovering the truth and admitted he thought about ending the relationship at that moment.
"I was disappointed, and I should have walked away, but I did not. It was not me," he said.
Looking back on the marriage's end, Rolland said the hardest part was losing access to his two children after their separation.
"What was disheartening is that we have two kids together, and she took them away."
He claimed that the emotional pain of being apart from his kids affected his health.
"Because of the children she took away, I had a stroke.
"Because of too much thinking about those children, I had a stroke," he said.
Rolland also mentioned that his mother is still grieving over the loss of her grandchildren.
"My mother still cries because she wants to see those children," Rolland said.
The actor did not share when the marriage ended or if there are any legal issues regarding custody of the children.
