Nigeria striker Akor Adams has spoken highly of the progress the Super Eagles have made under coach Eric Chelle. He believes the team is finding its identity based on intensity, aggression, and confidence with the ball, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Adams shared his thoughts while the Super Eagles trained in Poland. They are preparing for their international friendlies as Nigeria rebuilds under the Franco-Malian coach.
The Sevilla forward has been a key player since Chelle took charge. He made his senior national team debut under Chelle during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho last year.
Adams made a memorable debut by scoring in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory. Since then, he has become a regular member of the squad.
He further boosted his reputation during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. He scored two goals and provided two assists in Nigeria's campaign. Now, he has a total of five goals and two assists in 14 matches for the Super Eagles.
Looking back at the team’s improvement under Chelle, the 25-year-old said the players are fully behind the coach's philosophy. They are dedicated to keeping the team’s identity no matter who they play against.
“We’ve tried since the head coach came to build an identity around our strength. We play with a lot of intensity, we try to be as aggressive as possible and also we try to play with the ball,” Adams told UbuntuPitch.
“Take chances when we have them. Like every other game, we are going to play the same way, keep our DNA and try to get a good result.”
At the club level, Adams had a successful season with Sevilla. He scored 10 goals and made three assists in 32 matches. His efforts helped the Spanish team avoid relegation from La Liga.
The striker hopes to continue his good form in Nigeria’s next match against Portugal as the Super Eagles aim to build on their progress under Chelle.
