The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Senator David Mark, will launch the party's Presidential Campaign Council on Friday. This event will kick off the party's campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration is set for 4pm at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja. It will gather key leaders of the party and candidates who want to run for office under the ADC banner.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the Special Adviser to the National Chairman on Media and Publicity, released a statement on Thursday. He said the ceremony is a big step for the party's plans for the 2027 elections.

Ologbondiyan mentioned that all ADC leaders, including governorship candidates, National Assembly candidates, and State House of Assembly candidates, are expected to attend the inauguration.

He added that the event will help the party activate its presidential campaign structure as it starts preparing for the nationwide campaign. "The inauguration formally sets the stage for the ADC presidential campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections," he said.

This event comes as political parties ramp up their preparations for the 2027 elections. The ADC aims to become a strong opposition force against the ruling All Progressives Congress.

In recent months, the party has worked hard to build its presence across the country and organize its campaign activities for the upcoming polls. The ADC's presidential ticket is held by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku's leadership has placed the party in the middle of efforts by opposition politicians to unite ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The inauguration of the PCC is expected to make the party's presidential campaign more organized.

Party leaders and candidates will need to unite and work together on a common campaign message. The Friday ceremony will also be a chance for party leaders to share their priorities and direction as the election season heats up.

Ologbondiyan encouraged all party leaders and candidates to join the inauguration and fully participate. He said the gathering would highlight the need for unity and coordination within the party's campaign structure. This is important as the ADC gets ready to share its message with voters across Nigeria.

Atiku had previously named Abia lawmaker Senator Austin Akobundu as the Director-General of the Campaign Council. He called this a lean Presidential Campaign Council.
