Adeleke’s win shows that voters are ready to protect their choices, Kano NDC governor candidate

The Kano State governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, Aminu Gwarzo, has said that the re-election of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, shows that political power belongs to the voters.

Gwarzo made this known in an interview with PUNCH Online on Sunday. He was reacting to Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday.

He congratulated Adeleke and the people of Osun State. He said the election showed the strength of democracy and the determination of citizens to protect their choices.

“The people have defended their mandate and shown their resolve to protect the democratic process,” Gwarzo said.

He added that the election proved that democracy is in the hands of the people. Their choices must be respected.

“They exercised their democratic rights and reaffirmed that democracy is truly working. Their participation has shown that the power ultimately belongs to the people, whose voices must be respected and whose choices must be upheld,” he stated.

Gwarzo said that Adeleke’s win is also a sign of what the NDC can achieve in Kano in the 2027 governorship election.

“The victory in Osun is a clear signal that the people are ready to defend their mandate, and we believe the same spirit will be witnessed in Kano in 2027,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Adeleke as the winner on Sunday. He received 511,067 votes under the Accord Party, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who got 444,811 votes.

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress came third with 17,180 votes.
