Adeleke Uses Davido's Music to Boost Campaign for Re-election

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has said, “I know who I be,” while campaigning for his re-election. He borrowed titles from his nephew Davido’s new album, Oriadé, to support his message.

In a post he shared on X on Friday, the governor responded to critics of his peace call. He believes his administration's achievements will help him win the governorship election on August 15.

“On the road again for the Imole re-election campaign, and I’m listening to Oriadé, the new album by my nephew #davido, which is constantly reminding me of the amazing grace that has been my light and guide this last three and a half years that I have been Governor of Osun State.

“They say my call for peace is weak, but I know who I be. Tell everybody: Imole is winning his re-election on August 15.

“If you ask Julie or anyone in Osun State, they will tell you no vacancy in Abeere. Those perpetuating violence against our people are already falling.

“B4 B4 it was Zanzibar for tourism. Now Yaya and everyone is saying ‘Gimme Dat Ting’ in Osun. Oh… Yaya!” he wrote.

This post came just hours after Davido released Oriadé, his sixth studio album, which marks 15 years in the music scene.

Announcing his new project, the Afrobeats star wrote, “Oriadé. My sixth album. Fifteen years in. Get it from me directly, before anywhere else. Naira. Cedis. Shillings. Rand. Pounds. Pay what it’s worth to you.”

The album has 13 tracks. These include On the Road, Amazing Grace featuring Black Sherif, Julie, Constantly, I Know Who I Be featuring JAZZWRLD and GL. Ceejay, Gimme Dat Ting featuring NO11, B4 B4 featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, Already Falling, Tell Everybody featuring Leon Thomas, Yaya featuring Aya Nakamura, Zanzibar, Guide and My Light featuring Liona.

Adeleke's post comes at a time when Osun State is facing increased political tension and security issues ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The lead-up to the election has seen allegations of politically motivated arrests, violent clashes, and ongoing disputes over local government administration.
