Aderemi Adeoye, who has been invited to join the Super Eagles, scored a beautiful free-kick as Ikorodu City won 2-0 against the reigning champions Rangers in a Nigeria Premier Football League match on Sunday.
Adeoye scored the first goal in the sixth minute. He curled a long-range free-kick into the right corner of the net, giving Ikorodu City an early lead.
Ikechukwu Junior increased Ikorodu City’s lead in the 63rd minute. This win marked their second league victory of the season after five matches.
Adeoye is on the list of players invited for Nigeria’s friendly against Russia in Novgorod on October 6. At just 19 years old, this match could be his first senior international appearance, as he was also called up for the Unity Cup in May.
The defensive midfielder joined Ikorodu City in January 2026. Last season, he scored once in nine matches during the second half of the league.
Sunday’s goal was his first in four league games this season.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi will lead the squad for the friendly against Russia. Other players invited include Moses Simon, Stanley Nwabali, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Benjamin Fredricks, Raphael Onyedika, and Akor Adams.
There are also potential debutants like Samuel James, a goalkeeper from Finland, Victory Akpe, a defender based in Switzerland, Chibuzo Nwoko from Fulham in England, Stephen Michael from Vendsyssel FF in Denmark, Igor Wilfred from Kristiansund FC in Norway, Ridwan Abdulrasaq from Al Wasl in the UAE, and Suleiman Mubarak from Slavia Prague in Czechia.
For attacking options, the team includes Peter Edokpolor from Benfica in Portugal, Abubakar Umar from Famalicão in Portugal, and Abdullahi Umar from Hradec Kralove in Czechia.
Adeoye and the other players will travel to Russia for the friendly after the Super Eagles play their second AFCON qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday.
