Agu returns from injury in Bremen's pre-season win

Super Eagles defender Felix Agu made his long-awaited return from injury as Werder Bremen won two-nil against VfL Bochum in a pre-season friendly at Parkstadion in Zell am Ziller on Saturday. This was reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Nigeria international started the match for Werder Bremen. This was his first game back after recovering from muscle issues that kept him off the pitch during the club's pre-season camp. He had trained alone in the days leading up to the match before being cleared to play.

Erevbenagie opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. He picked up a well-placed pass from Olivier Deman, rounded Bochum goalkeeper Timo Horn, and finished into the bottom corner.

Agu, who is 26 years old, faced a tough match on the left side. He received a yellow card shortly after the second half began due to a clash that also saw Alessandro Crimaldi and former Werder player Manuel Mbom booked.

Despite the hard contest, Agu completed the match without any new injury worries. He was substituted in the 48th minute as head coach Daniel Thioune made two changes to help manage his workload.

Werder sealed the win in the 70th minute when Salim Musah scored from the penalty spot. He won the penalty himself and sent Horn the wrong way to make it 2-0.

This victory concluded a successful training camp in Austria for Werder Bremen. Agu's return is a big boost as the club gets ready for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season.
