Anambra Governor's Wife Visits 10-Year-Old Abused Boy in Hospital

The wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, visited a 10-year-old boy on Tuesday. The boy, Chiziterem, was allegedly abused by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area. Soludo promised to take full responsibility for his rehabilitation and recovery.

Chiziterem is currently getting treatment under state care. A viral video showed his serious injuries and burns, which were reportedly caused by his guardians, a man and a woman.

During her hospital visit, Soludo said she would make sure the boy gets medical, psychological, and emotional support to help him heal and reintegrate into society. She expressed relief that his condition had improved and described his suffering as a serious reminder of the responsibility to protect vulnerable children.

After a briefing from the medical team, the First Lady encouraged the public to report any cases of child abuse, neglect, or violence to the proper authorities.

"I visited young Chiziterem at the hospital to see his condition and support him as he starts to recover," she said.

"I am relieved by the good news from the doctors that his condition is now stable. He still needs proper care to heal fully, but it is encouraging to see how much he has improved in such a short time.

"Chiziterem’s story has touched many hearts and reminds us all to protect every child from abuse and harm.

"I will keep an eye on his recovery and ensure he gets the care and support he needs. I appreciate the medical team, concerned citizens, and everyone who has shown care during this tough time.

The First Lady also gave relief materials, including food and cash support, to help Chiziterem with his treatment. She praised the hospital staff for their professionalism and dedication to his care.

This visit happened as many people expressed anger over the alleged abuse. Many Nigerians are calling for justice and better protection for children from violence and neglect.
